"The Great Dane does not ask to be admired, yet admiration follows wherever they walk."
A breeder’s responsibility is not to produce dogs for today, but to safeguard the breed for tomorrow.
E.V.E. operates with a long-term view of the Great Dane. Each decision within the program is made with the goal of strengthening the next generation while protecting the health and stability of the breed.
At Evelyn’s Evergreen, our work is centered on the dogs themselves and the responsibility that comes with breeding a giant breed known for both its beauty and its vulnerability.
Our kennel program is built around three pillars: health, structure, and temperament. Every dog within the program is carefully evaluated to ensure they represent the physical soundness, stable disposition, and presence that define the Great Dane.
Before any breeding decision is ever considered, all dogs within our program undergo comprehensive genetic screening and health evaluation. These measures allow us to plan responsibly, reduce the risk of hereditary disease, and protect the long-term wellbeing of the dogs entrusted to our program.
While our kennel may occasionally produce colors outside the traditional show ring standards, color has never been the guiding force behind our work. Our priority remains where it belongs: on the overall quality of the dog. Sound structure, balanced temperament, and strong genetic health will always take precedence. When uncommon coloration appears, it is simply the natural outcome of thoughtfully selected pairings—not the objective.
Evelyn’s Evergreen exists not to produce dogs for the moment, but to contribute responsibly to the future of the breed.
Every decision we make reflects a commitment to the Great Dane itself.
To responsibly advance the Great Dane through ethical breeding practices, rigorous genetic screening, and a steadfast commitment to health, structure, and temperament.
Our mission is to maintain a kennel program that prioritizes the long-term wellbeing of the breed while producing dogs capable of thriving both physically and emotionally in the homes and roles they fill.
Through thoughtful selection, education, and lifelong stewardship of our dogs, Evelyn’s Evergreen seeks to contribute meaningfully to the continued strength and integrity of the Great Dane.
All dogs within the program are genetically screened and health evaluated prior to any pairing. Responsible breeding begins with understanding the genetic foundation of every dog involved.
The Great Dane is a breed defined by both elegance and strength. We prioritize balanced conformation, correct movement, and the physical soundness necessary for a giant breed.
A true Great Dane should embody the breed’s reputation as the “gentle giant.” Stable, confident, and people-oriented temperaments are essential within our program.
Our breeding decisions are guided by the overall quality of the dog rather than trends or aesthetics. While unique coat colors may occasionally appear, they are never the foundation of our program.
